Variegata di Lusia – kuvert

Radicchio with medium-sized, spherical, beige-white, burgundy spotted leaves. Good to grow in cold climates – this particular variety can withstand most of the winter cold.
Radicchio is eaten raw in salads, mixed with other green leaves. They vary a little in bitterness, depending on the variety and time of harvest. My recommendation is to taste it and harvest ahead when they are almost ready – a small one that sits in the middle between the large outer leaves. Surprisingly beautiful!
When harvesting radicchio, cut 2 cm above the ground, do not pull the whole root up. Around the root is the micro-life and you’ll just disturb it when you pull the whole root up.
Remove the outer leaves and leave them on the ground – then they will turn into compost over time.
Sowing time outdoors: June-July
Harvest time: ready after approx. 3 months
Seed harvest: The plant must overwinter and bloom the second year – like beautiful blue chicory flowers. Needs stacking, grows 120 cm tall.
